Belgian GRAPA 2026
Estimate your likely eligibility for GRAPA (Belgian income guarantee for the elderly) and an order of magnitude of the amount. Free, sourced from the Federal Pension Service.
Have you reached the legal retirement age with limited resources? This tool gives you an order of magnitude to know whether applying for GRAPA is worth it, the official process remains free and commits you to nothing.
Your situation
You live alone, or only with minor/adult children entitled to family allowances, or with your parents/grandparents/grandchildren (direct line).
Minor children, or adult children entitled to family allowances, first-degree relative to you or your partner.
All Belgian and foreign state pensions combined, including pension bonus.
Do NOT include here: family allowances, social/CPAS assistance, child maintenance payments, or GRAPA itself, these amounts never count in the official calculation and including them would underestimate your actual GRAPA.

A residual benefit, calculated on your actual resources
GRAPA supplements the income of people who have reached the legal retirement age and have limited resources. The Federal Pension Service examines your pensions and other resources, applies a divisor based on your family situation, and tops up to a guaranteed base amount.
The 10-year mechanism, an important point to note
A point many people are unaware of: if you sold or gifted an asset (movable or real estate) within the last 10 years, its value may be reintegrated into your resources by the SFP. This tool does not calculate this valuation, it warns you instead of showing a potentially over-optimistic figure.
What this tool does not do
Does not calculate the exact valuation of assets sold/gifted within the last 10 years, does not cover cohabiting with a third party with no couple or direct family relationship, and never replaces the official assessment by the Federal Pension Service.
Frequently asked questions
Is this amount guaranteed?
No. This is an order of magnitude to help you know whether applying for GRAPA is worth it. The Federal Pension Service examines your actual situation in detail before any decision, the process is free and commits you to nothing.
Why don’t my family allowances or CPAS assistance count?
The SFP explicitly excludes certain resources from the GRAPA calculation: family allowances, social/CPAS assistance, child maintenance between direct-line relatives, disability allowances, and others, these amounts should never be included in this tool’s "other resources" field.
Why is my calculation replaced by a message if I made a recent gift?
The Federal Pension Service reintegrates into your resources the value of movable or real estate assets sold or gifted within the 10 years before your application, using its own valuation method. We never guess this calculation, but this does not mean you are not entitled to GRAPA, only that this specific case requires the SFP’s assessment.
What is a "qualifying child" for the divisor?
A minor child, or an adult child still entitled to family allowances, first-degree relative to you or your partner, and domiciled at your address. These children increase the divisor used to calculate your per-person resources, which is favourable, regardless of your single/couple status.
What if I cohabit with a friend, with no couple or family relationship?
This specific case is not modelled in this v1: the official divisor mechanism for this situation is not clear enough in available sources to calculate without risk of error. Apply directly via mypension.be for this case.
